When we create something like a feature, a website, a marketing poster, or a blog , it’s easy to fall in love with what we’ve built.
We see the hours that went into it, the constraints we fought through, and the small victories behind every pixel and word. It feels right. It feels done.
But here’s the tricky part. Creators, much like film directors, often suffer from what I call “Director Blindsight.”
It’s the inability to see the flaws in our own work because we are too close to it. We justify what could have been better by reminding ourselves of the effort, the late nights, the deadlines, or the lack of resources.
And just like that, our justification becomes the quiet enemy of excellence.
At Astravue, we decided to challenge that.
We built a culture where every piece of work — whether it’s a product feature, a campaign, or a video , it goes through two rounds of criticism.
The first happens immediately after completion.
We share it internally and ask everyone to tear it up. The goal isn’t to defend the work but to question it. We remind ourselves that if we protect our ideas too fiercely, we might protect their flaws too.
Then, we pause.
For three days, we let the work breathe. No discussion, no edits, no emotional attachment.
On the third day, we return to it, and something magical happens.
The mind, now detached from the emotion of creation, sees things with renewed clarity.
What once looked perfect suddenly reveals its imperfections. What seemed “good enough” now feels incomplete. That’s when true refinement begins.
Someone once said, “Decisions made on the third day come from clarity, not emotion.”
That idea shaped our process. Because clarity doesn’t always come in the moment of creation. It comes in the moment of distance.
And even after we release the work, we revisit it again.
We ask: What worked? What didn’t?
Our focus is deliberately on what didn’t. We step into the shoes of our audience and look at the work as if it weren’t ours. This reflection loop, before and after release helps us evolve with every version.
We’ve seen this mindset transform how we build Astravue.
Every feature that ships, every video that goes live, every message that reaches people has been through this lens of honest critique.
It’s not about being harsh. It’s about being honest enough to want better.
It’s about ensuring that urgency never overrides quality, and pride never blinds improvement.
So we keep reminding ourselves that excellence isn’t born in the first draft.
It emerges when you dare to question what you’ve created, twice.
Great work isn’t just created. It’s refined.
